Italian flair & a game of boccette at Eveline's! At B&B Vol Liefde, we saw how Eveline not only immersed her guests in romance and sunshine, but also introduced them to a quintessential Italian billiards game: boccette!
In its beautiful location in Italy, the billiard table became the scene of a cheerful and strategic battle. With colorful balls and pins on the table, the game revolved around precision, tactics, and, above all, lots of fun.
What is Boccette? A billiards variant where players try to get their balls as close as possible to the blue ball. But be careful: hitting the pins with your own ball results in penalty points! It's all about clever positioning and thwarting your opponent, Italian style.
Just play it at home! You don't need a special Italian table—boccette can be played on a standard pool table. Ideal for home or at your favorite pool club.
Distances between the cones
- The cones are placed in a cross shape in the middle of the table:
- The central red cone is right in the middle.
- The four white cones are arranged in a cross shape around it, each 12cm away from the red cone — one above, one below, one to the left and one to the right.
Extensive rules of Boccette
It is played with 9 balls: 4 red, 4 white and 1 blue ball.
Each player plays with a fixed color (red or white) and tries to place his balls as close as possible to the blue ball.
The game starts with a preliminary round: whoever plays their ball closest to the blue ball starts.
Players may lean on the table, but must always keep one foot on the floor.
Points are earned by:
To lie close to the blue ball.
Cones to throw with the blue ball or an opponent's ball.
Penalty points are awarded if your own ball hits a pin.
The game requires strategy: you not only want to score, but also put your opponent in a difficult position.
