Save energy Billiards

  1. Use a timer

Or

  1. Synthetic cloth instead of wool billiard cloth

  • A time clock saves a lot of money.
    What can you do:

  • Turn on the heating 1.5 hours before the first game starts
  • 1.5 hours in advance, turn off the last-to-play heating (billiard remains warm for about 1.5 hours after switching off.
  • On days when there is no playing, there is no need for heating.

Normally there is a thermostat connected to the heating. This must be adjusted so that there is about 5 degrees between the temperature in the room and the billiards. As a result, the heating through the thermostat will burn approximately 2/3 (0.66) of the time per hour.

See table for results without and with timer.

  • Synthetic sheet.
  • Advantage - Is made of plastic, so heating has no influence
  • Advantage - Saves 100% electricity costs
  • Advantage - Is also cheaper
  • Disadvantage - Is thinner. This allows you to see irregularities in the slate plate earlier
  • Disadvantage - More heat under the balls by repelling. As a result, billiard balls don't last as long.

Billiard heating:

A billiard heater is not to warm the billiards, but to keep the billiards dry. Billiard cloths are made of wool (90%). Wool has the property that when it is damp, it thickens. The hairs that lie flat in a dry sheet stand upright when the sheet is damp. As a result, the ball has more resistance and slows down. Under the billiard cloth is a slate plate (natural stone). This is a porous material and attracts moisture (it fogs up just like a window). If the billiard heating is 3 to 4 degrees higher than the ambient temperature, the billiard cannot contain moisture. The hairs on the billiard cloth then lie flat. The ball then has the least resistance and rolls over the table longer.

We also recommend installing a time clock with regard to the billiard heating. The electrical time savings can be reduced by 50%. By turning on the heating 1.5 hours in advance and also turning it off 1.5 hours before the last player has finished at the billiards. Also switch off the billiards on Sundays, public holidays and holidays. This not only saves a lot of power (energy), but the rubber bumpers also last about 2 years longer. When burning day and night, the rubber will last 10 years. With a switched billiard table 12 years. The thermostat is only intended to create a certain heat.
