Kamui "KAGEKI" billiard chalk for the ultimate trick shot
The sport has evolved a lot in recent years, but chalk hasn't necessarily followed the same path.

People will use a jumping cue for jumps, different tips for different playing styles, but no one thought about using one type of chalk for just the extreme shots and that's exactly what KamuiKageki is.

This is not your everyday chalk, not your every shot chalk. This is a weapon you take out of your cue when you need to hit a close hit, a masse, a jump or an extreme shot and you just can't afford to make a wrong choice! This chalk is very 'grippy' and spreads nicely on the tip.

Kamui Kageki's goal is simply for people to carry it as a secret weapon that would boost confidence and help get that extra spin when it counts!

Experience
— Florian Kohler —

― What did you ask KAMUI for the new chalk when the partnership was sealed?

I asked pretty much the impossible and tried to make a crayon better than the 1.21... I wanted something with more grip, something that wasn't so 'dirty' and left less marks on the cue ball. Basically something that would help me get a head start on more extreme tricks!

― As an artistic pool player, what do you need for a piece of chalk?

In a word? Best!! To expand a bit, I would say grip is the most important thing. We always push the limits in trick shots and a good chalk can make a world of difference between a miscue and a winning shot in a championship. A good chalk will also expand the field of possibilities and help me take more extreme shots!

― You have been using Beta Chalk for a long time. What's good about chalk?

You're right. I believe I was one of the first to use the Kamui chalk and to this day I still believe it is one of the best chalks on the market.

It really offers superior grip and allows me to minimize mistakes in a way no other chalk can offer. I have tested many different crayons and really Kamui is simply the superior product!

― You are one of the most famous artistic pool players in the world, and people love your YouTube channel. What motivates you to keep doing it?

This is a very interesting question. Sometimes I wonder the same thing, but at the end of the day I really have a deep love for the game and I absolutely love making new trick shots! I must say it is also very motivating to see so many younger people taking up trick shots too!

― You also run APA Vegas. What brought you there? Can you describe about it?

Before I bought the league I had been working with APA for many years so it was kind of a natural evolution and was always in the back of my mind. When the opportunity to buy the Las Vegas franchise came up, I just couldn't say no.

I have to admit that while I thought this would be an easy 'side job', it really isn't. It really takes maximum effort and long hours to ensure the proper functioning of the competition. We've also grown the league and now cater to over 850 pool players in the greater Las Vegas area alone.

The end goal there is really to grow the league as much as possible and get over 1,000 people involved to also grow the pool game in general.

― Billiards is a lifelong sport. What is your goal?

I believe the goal since the beginning of my career has always been to promote the game to as many people as possible.

15 years later I feel like I've really made an impact and it's a really great feeling! At this point in my career, I feel like the next step would simply be to keep working to build a long lasting legacy in the sport and overtime even transcend pool sports.

― Have you thought about going to a 9-ball or 10-ball tournament recently?

It's something that's always on my mind. I know there is some sort of legend where people debate whether I can run racks or not... Long answer short is yes I can play 'regular pool' quite well but due to my competitive nature and let's face it my reputation I can't just join a tournament to have fun.

Any tournament I would play in should be able to win it and if not I feel there are more disadvantages than advantages.

I also truly believe that the current level in pro pool is the highest it has ever been so it would take me a lot of practice to get to an acceptable level and I just don't have that time. Keep in mind I post trick shots every day and run 4 different companies...
