Royal Pro is made of synthetic silk (viscose) and there is NO wool in it. Please be careful that there is NO wool in it as it is something very important and it is something that all customers are carefully informed about in the first instance. This is a completely «GREEN» solution because ROYAL PRO is synthetic, it does not absorb moisture, so no heating is required. According to the tests of the only federation in the world to conduct six-month official tests (FIBIS, Italian Billiard Federation), the difference between the total cold and the total warm table Royal Pro cloth is 2% in speed and angles increasing.

Wool is affected by moisture, which affects speed and angles. You always have more speed and the balls are always alive after every kiss.

Wool can not keep playing conditions for a long time. Royal Pro loses a very small percentage of its abilities over time. Carre is always present, even after a year.

Wool cannot cope with playing conditions, is affected by humidity and still needs heating. The biggest curse of wool cloths is that they always need polishing material for the balls.
All these products cause the balls to slide uncontrollably. That's why a game is never the same from start to finish.
Buittage happens mainly because of the static that only exists in the wool cloths and never in the sythetics.

  • OFFICIAL TEST OF ROYAL PRO BILLIARDS CLOTH, FROM FIBIS

  • (Italian Billiards Federation)
I take my hat off, to the Italian Federation, for this astonishing and surprisingly unexpected kind of testing.
FIBIS should be an example for ALL other federations, proving that the criteria for recognizing and homologating a billiard cloth do not depend on the amount of sponsorship.
The tests lasted 6 months, were made by a state chemical engineer and played every week by a few qualified players, who also had to make their report every week.
Incidentally, other well-known brands have also been tested in parallel.

    Royal Pro testing and homologation.
To homologate a cloth, two types of tests are performed: objective and subjective tests.
Both types of tests must meet the following requirements: regularity of geometry, constant rolling of balls, chromatic contrast, chromatic and physical immutability; It is estimated that these requirements should be tested over a long period of time, such as 500 hours of play.
    Objective testing:
1- Index of rolls at different shale temperatures, (fastness).
2- Test of modification by chemical aggression.
3- Resistance and response to a short and intense heat.
    4- Resistance to traction.
5- Resistance to relaxation / giving in,
6- Refractory to H2O and too dirty.
7- Regularity of the weave (warp and weft).
8- Release of materials or pilling.

    Subjective Testing:
9- Conformity of classical systems at different temperatures.
    10- Conformity of cushions rebounds
11- Evaluation of contrast and color quality.
1- Index of rolling (realness): This is obtained with an inclined instrument where you place the ball and let it roll, it is measured by diamonds at different temperatures and also monitors the humidity. The threshold is >70. The result was always >78, even at a temperature below 30°C. Test result is POSITIVE.
This test was also done with the slate heating completely turned off for 1 week; temperature was 20° – 22°. The moving index is down 5%. The test result is POSITIVE even with heating off at ambient temperature.

2- Test of modification by chemical aggression.
It often happens that cloths are cleaned with chemical products; to simulate these situations, cloth is immersed in:
ACIDO ACETICO (CH3COOH, weak organic acid, 80% conc.)
ACIDO CLORIDRICO (HCl, strong mineral acid, 33% conc.)
    TETRACLORURO ETILENE 4Cl2C (solvent)

    The test was performed in times of 15 min, 1 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, 5 days.
RP showed no deterioration when immersed in ACIDO CLORIDRICO as fully synthetic; it lost very little color when dipped in ACIDO ACETICO, meaning it contains no silicon; with TETRACLORURO there has been no reaction, the canvas has not lost any color. Test result is POSITIVE.
3- Resistance and response to a short and intense heat.
This test was done because rolling balls can cause intense heating on the cloth. The simulation is made with drops of Pb+Sn at 200°-230°. Self-combustion is also tested with a soldering iron for 2 seconds (800°C approx). Test result is POSITIVE.

    4- Resistance to traction.
This test checks the possibility of installing the fabric with the maximum tensile force, without giving any future, maximum tension can be evaluated. Small different stripes were cut and placed under progressive and controlled traction. The results showed that cloth can withstand higher traction than the traction that a human operator could use. Test result is POSITIVE.

5- Resistance to relaxation / yielding; this tests the possibility that, after installation, the cloth could yield, causing a different reaction of balls in different zones. Evaluation is sampled up to 48 hours. Maximum yield, from starting position in 48 hours with 14 kgf was 10.65 mm. This means that the linear traction used in the installation remains uniform over time and does not provide a local return. The yield is measured as 3.6%, which is generally acceptable. Test result is POSITIVE.

6- Refractory to H2O and too dirty. This test measures how much time a drop of H2O remains in the spherical conditions without capillarity absorption. It took 10 minutes. Dirty has also been tested by pouring a strawberry liqueur, fruit juice and motor oil onto the cloth and leaving it there for 15 minutes. After this, the cloth is cleaned with PERCLOROETILENE, whereby the stain ring and the halo are assessed. Test result is POSITIVE.

7- Regularity of the weave (warp and weft).
The test was done with an X5 lens, looking for irregularities. Test result is POSITIVE.

8- Release of materials or pilling.
This test is done to check the amount of material that is lost during vacuuming, this material is found in the vacuum cleaner. Material was not present. Test result is POSITIVE.

    Subjective Testing:
Players with different skills were asked to comment:
"tracks are normal, after a few hours the curtain drops and gives linearity in short to short shots (5-pin)"
“rolling is normal, slightly faster than a woolen cloth”
“for some frontal shots, English needs to be a bit stronger”
“a mild shift typical for new canvas is still clearly present, even after 100 hours of play”
"Differences with geometric trajectories are quite nil"
"massè shot can be achieved with less force, resulting in more precision"
“The rotation of the ball remains more constant throughout its trajectory, until the end of the shot; we see it especially in bricoles and gauffa (carre).”

I 11- Evaluation of contrast and color quality.
This test is very personal. Players have been asked to rate the clarity of the ball contours as opposed to the color of the cloth. They had to choose between a green and a blue cloth in the background.
    Two comments were quite unanimous:
“the blue is more relaxing for the eyes after playing for a few hours”
“balcony contours are easier to see on a blue background”
An instrumental test is impossible, but the answers suggest that a blue background gives more clarity to contours, making aiming easier.
Blues have a lower wavelength than greens and this aids retinal receptors, making viewing easier on our eyes, especially when playing long distance (3 hours).

    CONCLUSIONS:
Tests have shown that RP meets the requirements to play.
The manufacturer's statement shows that the materials used are legally approved.
Because RP needs less temperature to work, it is particularly suitable in certain situations where there is no time to get the heating to the right temperature or, for example, in schools of "School Project" where the heating is often not or not immediately available .
Energy saving is therefore an important point; more than 30% energy savings can be estimated compared to fabric with hydrophilic components.
The results show that RP cloth can be used at ambient temperature, with no heating and no change in playability, making it a suitable choice for locations where it is difficult to set up a good energy line.
For all these reasons, we consider the RP cloth suitable and can be requested for all specialties of international billiards.
