This heating wire features a resistance wire surrounded by a silicone protective layer. The wire heats up. This is increasingly being used to replace old heating plates with this resistance wire. It is easy to staple onto moisture-resistant plasterboard or chipboard.

Due to the silicone outer sheath, this fire-resistant wire has a resistance of 1.46 Ohms per meter. It can be connected in series.

We recommend using at least 45 meters for a billiard table with a playing surface of 115 x 230 cm.

With a usage of 45 meters, the consumption is relatively high (around 800 Watts). With the use of more wire, there is a reduction of approximately 50 Watts in energy consumption for every 5 meters. With more wire, the heat will also decrease.

This insulation wire is also very suitable for underfloor heating, for example for campers and caravans. The wire is 3 m thick. We normally install this 5 to 7 cm apart. In combination with a thermostat, you can regulate the temperature.

Saving energy Billiards

  1. Use a timer

Or

  1. Synthetic cloth instead of wool billiard cloth

  • A timer saves a lot of money.
    What you can do:

  • Turn on the heating 1.5 hours before the first person is going to play.
  • Turn off the heating 1.5 hours before the last game (the billiard table remains warm for approximately 1.5 hours after being switched off).
  • On days when no one is playing, the heating does not need to be on.

Normally, there is a thermostat connected to the heater. This must be adjusted so that there is approximately 5 degrees between the room temperature and the billiard table. As a result, the heater will run for approximately 2/3 (0.66) of the time per hour, controlled by the thermostat.

See table for results without and with timer.

  • Synthetic sheet.
  • Advantage - Is made of plastic, so heating has no effect
  • Benefit - So 100% electricity costs saved
  • Advantage - Is also cheaper
  • Disadvantage - It is thinner. As a result, you see imperfections in the slate more easily.
  • Disadvantage - Repels more heat from under the balls. As a result, billiard balls do not last quite as long.

Billiard heating:

A billiard table heater is not intended to heat the billiard table, but to keep it dry. Billiard cloths are made of wool (90%). Wool has the property of becoming thicker when damp. The fibers, which lie flat on a dry cloth, stand upright when the cloth is damp. As a result, the ball experiences more resistance and slows down. Beneath the billiard cloth is a slate (natural stone). This is a porous material and attracts moisture (it fogs up just like a window). If the billiard heater is 3 to 4 degrees higher than the ambient temperature, the billiard table cannot contain moisture. The fibers on the billiard cloth then lie flat. The ball then experiences the least resistance and rolls across the table for longer.

We also recommend installing a timer for the billiard table heating. Electric time savings can be reduced by 50%. This is achieved by turning the heating on 1.5 hours in advance and turning it off 1.5 hours before the last player finishes at the table. Also, switch off the table on Sundays, public holidays, and during holidays. This not only saves a significant amount of electricity (energy), but also extends the lifespan of the rubber cushions by approximately 2 years. With continuous operation day and night, the rubber lasts 10 years. With a switched-on billiard table, it lasts 12 years. The thermostat is only intended to generate a specific temperature.
