What is a billiard cue made of:

The most common type of wood for the top part of the billiard cue is Maple. But nowadays we also see more and more carbon. The lower part of the billiard cue can be made of several tropical woods.

The length of a billiard cue in about 140 cm, the weight varies from 470 to 530 grams. Most billiards options consist of two parts, which can be screwed together. The screw thread is often made of wood, but a metal type such as brass also occurs but is actually from early. There are also billiard cues that have titanium closures. These are often called uni-loc or VP2 closure

A lighter billiard cue is recommended for playing libre than for three cushion. We often see that libre players are somewhere between 470 and 500 grams and three-cushion players from 500 to 530.

Of course there are exceptions. Everyone has their own preferences regarding their billiard cue .

The upper part of the top end of a billiard cue consists of a leg which nowadays consists of plastic. In the past, ivory was used for this, but that is no longer allowed and not possible.

The very tip of a billiard cue is a small piece of leather, which is called the cue tip. The tip has an average thickness of 3-5 mm, and has a spherical appearance. By means of glue (this can be special glue) the tips must be firmly in place, the tips must not move.

In the past, there were only a few brands of bitters. nowadays there are many and in very many different sports and hardnesses.
