Three-cushion patterns require a different approach than libre and frame billiards. And certainly with the somewhat heavier patterns, such a longer cue adds value. Regarding the tips as well (which I actually consider the most important), I have specified the requirements they must meet. Weight and the stiffness of the wood are crucial in this regard. Important information regarding the purchase of an extra top end / shaft

When purchasing an extra shaft , it is important to pay close attention to the wooden screw joint . Even if you buy a shaft from the same brand as your cue, that does not automatically mean it will fit perfectly . Wooden joints are made individually and can always vary slightly in size or fit.

Be careful when tightening

Is the top end screwing too tightly into the bottom end? Then never overtighten. Forcing it can damage or even break the threads , resulting in permanent damage.

Possible solutions

There are a few safe ways to improve an overly tight wooden fit yourself:

• Sprinkle talcum powder lightly on the screw thread and try again.

• Apply graphite (with a regular pencil) to the screw thread

• Very fine sandpaper (use only very carefully and exclusively on the wooden part)

These methods can sometimes make the fit just smooth enough without causing damage.

Never use wet or greasy lubricants

Never use soap, wax, oil, grease, or other wet lubricants . You might be able to assemble the cue with these, but often won't be able to take it apart again — with a high risk of permanent damage.
